Hot Air Balloon Safaris

Soar above the Serengeti at sunrise

Overview of the Experience

Experience the Serengeti from above. Drift with the wind over the endless plains, watching wildlife wake up from a unique vantage point. As the balloon floats quietly, you can spot herds of wildebeest and zebra, prides of lions, and elephants moving below. Your adventure begins in the early morning, before sunrise. While the sky is still painted with stars, you’ll be transferred to the launch site where the balloon is prepared. As the burners ignite and the canopy rises, excitement builds. Soon, you’ll gently lift off the ground and drift silently over the plains, with only the soft roar of the flame breaking the silence. Once you touch down, tradition calls for a champagne toast in the bush, honoring the very first hot air balloon adventurers. This is followed by a freshly prepared gourmet bush breakfast set in the open savannah - a feast complete with tropical fruits, baked breads, hot coffee, and Tanzanian specialties.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it cold during the balloon flight?

It is chilly at 5:00 AM when you leave your lodge, so we recommend a jacket or fleece. Once in the air, the heat from the balloon burners keeps you warm, and it warms up quickly as the sun rises.

Can children join the balloon safari?

Yes, children aged 7 years and older are welcome, provided they are tall enough to stand and see over the edge of the basket (minimum height 1.2m / 3.9ft).

What happens if the weather is bad?

If your flight is cancelled due to high winds or heavy rain, you will be offered a full refund or the option to reschedule your flight to the following morning.

How many people fit in a basket?

Baskets range in size from 8 to 16 passengers, divided into separate compartments to ensure everyone has a prime view over the side.
