DAILY SCHEDULE
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 01Zanzibar to Serengeti National Park
Zanzibar to Serengeti National Park
A morning scheduled flight from Zanzibar directly to the Seronera airstrip, roughly two hours over the coast, the Rift Valley and then the plains. You are met on the strip and driven to Kati Kati Tented Camp, and the afternoon is your first game drive through the Seronera Valley, looking for the resident cats.
Flying coast to plain in a single morning is what makes a three-day safari possible at all. There is no way to do this by road (Zanzibar to the Serengeti overland is two days in each direction), so the flight is not a luxury here but the entire reason the trip exists.
Day 02Full Day in Central Serengeti
Full Day in Central Serengeti
A full day in the Seronera Valley, out early with a picnic lunch and back after the light has gone. The valley is the most reliable big-cat country in Tanzania, and a single well-worked day here can produce lion, leopard and cheetah, the leopard usually in the sausage trees along the water.
The reason Seronera performs so consistently is that its river runs year-round. Where there is permanent water there is permanent game, so the lion prides here hold the same territory across generations rather than following the migration. It is why a two-night stay can deliver what a longer trip elsewhere might not.
Day 03Serengeti to Zanzibar & Departure
Serengeti to Zanzibar & Departure
A final morning game drive taken on the way to the airstrip rather than as a separate excursion, which usually turns up something worth stopping for. Then the direct flight back to Zanzibar for your beach transfer or international connection.
Three days is the shortest genuinely worthwhile safari, and it works because every hour is spent in one exceptional place rather than driving between several. You will not tick off the Big Five and you will not see the crater, but you will have spent two full days in the heart of the Serengeti, a better trade than most people expect.
