TREK OVERVIEW

6-Day Kilimanjaro Marangu Route

The historic "Coca-Cola Route" with mountain hut accommodation, a direct trail, and the easiest gradient to the summit.

The Marangu Route is the oldest and most established path on Kilimanjaro. Known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” it is the only route where you sleep in simple mountain huts rather than tents, making it popular with trekkers who prefer a roof overhead.

The trail follows a steady, direct line up the southeastern slopes to Kibo Hut, then makes the final ascent to Uhuru Peak via Gilman’s Point. Because the ascent and descent follow the same path, Marangu offers fewer panoramic changes than circular routes, but the shorter duration and hut comfort make it a practical choice.

Success rates on the 6-day version are respectable, though the same-day ascent and descent profile makes proper pacing and hydration essential.
