TREK OVERVIEW

9-Day Kilimanjaro Northern Circuit

The longest and quietest route on Kilimanjaro: a full traverse of the northern slopes with unmatched acclimatization and the highest summit success rate.

The Northern Circuit is Kilimanjaro's longest and least traveled route. It begins like the Lemosho Route on the western side, crosses the Shira Plateau, then turns north to follow the high, remote slopes of Kibo almost all the way around the mountain.

Because you spend nine full days ascending and traverse so much terrain, your body has maximum time to adapt to the altitude. This makes the Northern Circuit the safest and most successful way to reach Uhuru Peak, especially if you have never been above 5,000 m before.

The scenery changes every day: forest, heath, plateau, alpine desert, and finally the ice fields near the crater rim. If you have the time and want the most complete Kilimanjaro experience, this is the route to choose.
