1-Day Arusha National Park Day Trip
Tanzania's most underrated park - giraffes, colobus monkeys, canoeing on Momella Lake, and views of Kilimanjaro.
TOUR OVERVIEW
Most visitors drive past Arusha National Park on their way to the Northern Circuit. They are missing one of Tanzania's most rewarding day trips. The park is home to giraffes, zebras, warthogs, buffalo, and four species of colobus monkey. We can add a canoeing excursion on Momella Lake (with hippos and flamingos), a forest walk to a waterfall, and a climb to Mount Meru's lower slopes for views of Kilimanjaro.
Tanzania’s most underrated park. A single day, a lifetime of memories, and a fraction of the crowds.

Day 01Arusha National Park Day Trip & Departure
Arusha National Park Day Trip & Departure
A morning pickup from your Arusha or Moshi hotel and the short drive to Arusha National Park, about thirty minutes out of town. The morning is a game drive across the park's very varied ground (montane forest, open grassland and the Momella Lakes), with the option of canoeing on the lake among hippo, flamingo and prolific birdlife (booked separately). Lunch is taken in the park, and the afternoon offers either a forest walk to a waterfall or a climb to a viewpoint on Mount Meru's lower slopes with Kilimanjaro across the plain. You are back in Arusha by late afternoon.
Arusha National Park packs an improbable amount into a small area, and it is the one park on the northern circuit where you can leave the vehicle. There are no lion here, which is exactly why walking and canoeing are permitted, and why a single day can take in a game drive, a boat and a forest hike without any of them feeling rushed.
